Tips
Advice to help you succeed in all 4 years at KAMSC

Homework
- Get it done ASAP; doing it late at night will not be beneficial.
- Check work and keep track of mistakes; go back and fix incorrect answers.
- Do as much as you can alone before seeking help; this will show you what you need to practice before tests.
- Make sure it is high quality, homework points add up at the end of the semester.

Exams
- Begin studying roughly 2-3 weeks before the exam date.
- Find a study group that you can focus in.
- Try to eat healthily and get a good amount of sleep in the weeks prior to the exam.
- Stay organized.
- Be prepared to reduce stress (talking to teachers to clear up any confusion will greatly reduce stress).

Research
- Work ahead as much as possible; stay on top of things.
- Use your resources, ask questions.
- Use a variety of sources.
- Get work checked by peers/teachers before you turn it in.
- Persevere; research is a long difficult project, but the end result is extremely worth it.

Studying
- Spread it out over a few days; don't cram.
- Find a study group(s).
- Talk to teachers and clear up any confusion before the assessment.
- Don't stress; it will only make it harder to focus.
- Get plenty of sleep before the test; trust us, getting a decent amount of sleep is much more beneficial than staying up all night to study.

Contacting Teachers
- Keep it formal.
- Be confident.
- Do NOT be nervous to ASK QUESTIONS; the moment KAMSC students stop worrying about looking "smart" all the time, is the moment they will see large improvements.
- Be patient, teachers have many classes, as well as things outside of school.
- Thank them.

Extra Help
- Take advantage of every opportunity you are given.
- Going in before and after class is a great way to clear up questions from the night's homework.
- Open lab/office hours provide a one on one environment that most students highly benefit from.
- Don't be shy! This is most teachers' favorite part of their job.

Peer Tutors/
Study Tables
- If you are in need of assistance in
any class, there are free peer tutors available
- These are students who were previously successful in the class
and are looking to help other students
- You can either get an individual tutor or join a study table, which is held usually once a week and anyone can stop by and ask questions
- Contact Ms. Joyce if you want to sign up to either be a tutor or get a tutor

Peers
- Meet as many people as you can; form relationships and study groups.
- Don't compare yourself to others.
- Use this opportunity to meet people from other schools.
- ''People know people": if you are ever looking to learn more about something, reach out to classmates. People have a wide variety of knowledge and can help you meet your goals.

Weekends
- Get homework done before Sunday night if possible, this reduces stress and allows you time to receive help if you need it.
- HAVE SOME FUN; the weekends are a great time to study, but also a great time to relax, watch a movie, or see a friend.
- Get organized for the week ahead; have binders and papers ready before bed

Supplies
- Have a reliable calculator; teachers will tell you their recommended model
- Lab goggles
- Binder dividers are reccomended
